The definition used for Shots on Target from 2013/2014 is this:-
Any goal attempt that:
a) Goes into the net
b) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a goalkeeper's save
c) Would have gone into the net but for being stopped by a defender who is the last man.
This definition was used from the 2013/2014 season onwards for all English Leagues.
In previous seasons, it also included blocked shots.
This means that the statistic Shots on Target will be much higher in data up to and including the 2012/2013 season. Be aware of this in any analyses that are either shown or data that is downloaded.
